I don't usually jump on the trendy food bandwagon. These bars are an exception. A worthy one. Rich enough to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Crust:
1 package yellow cake mix
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup butter, melted
Topping:
8 ounces chocolate chips
3/4 cup nuts of your choice, chopped (I used pecans)
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 cup coconut (optional)
Mix crust ingredients together well. Press into bottom of 9" x 13" pan. Press in the chocolate chips and nuts.
Sprinkle coconut over chocolate chips/nuts.
Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, eggs and vanilla. Pour over pan mixture.
Preheat oven to 300. Bake 1 hour or until top has slightly browned.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! I've made a layer bar similar to this, but it didn't have the yellow cake in it! I might have to try it this way. Following you by the way!
